Time Bicycles is building a new carbon fiber bicycle factory in the United States

The bicycle maker Time Bicycles has announced plans to build a new factory in the United States and make it the largest carbon fiber bicycle factory in the country, foreign media reported.

The new plant will be located in Spartanburg, South Carolina, near the West coast of the United States, Florida. The company plans to invest $6.5 million to renovate the 30-acre site of Bommer Industries, a former door hinge manufacturer, and plans to begin renovating the existing 140,000 square meter plant next month. The plant is expected to be operational by the end of 2023. The first products to be built at this Time should be the first paint shop products. By the end of 2024, it will be able to do all the manufacturing, from knitting, weaving, injecting, gluing, matching, sanding and painting, from raw fibers all the way to finished bikes. After operation, 105 local jobs will be created.

Tony Karklin, CEO of Time Bicycles, said in the statement, "After two years of planning, we are pleased to announce Spartanburg County as the site of a Time USA plant. Through our collaboration with Clemson University, Kraussmaffei and the Fraunhofer Alliance in the United States, we aim to produce the world's most advanced carbon fiber bicycles, with technology and partnerships comparable to those produced in Asia."

Time Bicycles, a subsidiary of Cardinal Cycling Group in Arkansas, started in 2021 in partnership with Allied Cycle Works, a carbon fiber manufacturer in Arkansas, Formed after acquiring Time's bike and frame business from Rossignol. Karklins is one of the founders of Allied Cycle Works, now owned by an investment group led by members of the Walton family. Cardinal later acquired Detroit Bikes as well.
