The new Cane Creek Invert is a lightweight suspension fork designed specifically for gravel bikes.
The Cane Creek Invert is an inverted fork; there are some good reasons for being inverted - the design reduces unsprung weight, keeps oil flowing while allowing less dirt to get inside, and provides more oil at the top of the fork Tire clearance. But it’s worth noting that brands like Rock Shox that experimented with lightweight inverted forks no longer offer them.
The Invert Gravel suspension uses air springs and comes in two different versions. The Invert SL is the lighter version, weighing in at 990g and having 30mm of travel. The Invert CS is a bit heavier at 1113g, but adds a climb switch and an extra 10mm of travel for 40mm of squeeze. The climb switch on the Invert CS is actually a button that is said to click like a pen.
How does it compare to competitors?
Gravel suspension forks are available from Fox and Rock Shox, although both are heavier than the Cane Creek Invert. The Fox 32 TC weighs in at around 1214g, but the fork offers more travel, with 40mm and 50mm versions available. The Rock Shox Rudy also weighs in at over 1200g and has similar travel to the Invert at 30mm and 40mm. Like the Cane Creek forks, both the Fox and Rock Shox gravel forks have clearance to accommodate 700x50c tires.
